Random location for a truly Roman pizza experience, but I'm not complaining as it's a five minute drive from our house! Or maybe it's true to the experience since everything feels like a hole in the wall in Rome!
It is all about the crust here! We ordered two pizzas one being the margarita which was packed with flavor but so simple, and the burrata eggplant which needed some sauce but the flavors brought us right back to Italia.
Will be making our way through everything on the menu (the cacio e pepe is next on the list ), and excited to bring some dough home and make our own! The sandwiches look just like what you'd get in Italy, just 2 or 3 quality ingredients on amazing bread.
We have had their take-out pizzas that were prepared in house; each delicious and different in texture and flavor.
This time we decided to try their take and bake roman crusts, bring them home and add our own variety of toppings. Lets see if I can remember...first of all, the crusts, while similar in product, use and cooking method used like other pre-made/store bought crusts (e.g. Boboli) , these are really nothing like the others. These crusts are oval shaped, light, airy and soft. We created some of the concoctions below just to give you some ideas. Also, we used some of their in-house mozzarella.
1) Roasted Jalapeno/serrano chili smear, Arugula, Prosciutto and olive oil (no cheese).
2) Pizza/Tomato sauce, Mozzarella, Jack Cheese, Pepperoni, bell pepper, mushroom (kids pizza)
3) Zucchini, spinach, ricotta lasagna smear, peperoni, bell pepper, mushroom, green onion, arugula mozzarella/Jack cheeses and pizza/tomato sauce.
4) Pesto smear, Green onion, mushroom, plenty of fresh garlic, olive oil, mozzarella and jack cheese. (My personal favorite).
Some very delicious pies. Grandkids tore them up. These are very simple for an easy bake process in your own kitchen without the mess and hassle of making your own dough . . . but, we likened the texture and convenience to more of a flatbread style pie. It was certainly missing some form of a characteristic 'pizza' feel, bite, greasiness and overall pizza (something). We all agreed that these are probably used rather extensively as 'flatbreads' on many menus throughout this company's wide distribution market.
We all think these are definitely noteworthy crusts. We prefer to regard them as flatbreads instead of pizzas. These crusts are easy to use, prepare and bake in your own oven. Simple instructions to follow. Put whatever you like on them and you have instant flatbread pizzas for any party or dinner.
What a surprise.
Went to the laundromat next door and saw this place. Decided to try it out based on the reviews.
Ordered the margherita pizza and it was delicious. The crust is some kind of unique. Soft, flaky dough baked to perfection and the crust was nice and crunchy! I liked how the sauce wasn't overpowering and the ratio of cheese was just right. I ended up with leftovers and the rest of my picky eating family loved it as well. The only gripe is the basil. There was only one basil leaf on the center of the pizza, I wished there were more.
Their pizza is so unique and delicious
But that was unlike any W will ever get anywhere it's so light and airy super cool pizza concept
I got the veggie and the vegetables were so fresh really good
Tried the meatball, prosciutto, and the amatriciana ones - pretty good stuff. The prosciutto one was a bit drier than the other two, but I enjoyed the toppings.
It's more for take-out than dine-in, and you have to wait for the food, so I recommend ordering
The best pizza (pinsa) crust in North County.
This very Italian Pinsaria bakes from-scratch crusts and adds fresh toppings like homemade mozzarella and picked-on-the-spot basil leaves. What makes PinSarElla so special is their "Roman-Style" dough. It's soft on the inside, yet crispy on the outside. They say it's healthier, more digestible, and has half the carbs of regular pizza dough.
Just know that traditional Italian style pizza is generally light on toppings. So if you want a pound of stuff piled high on your pizza you'll want to go to Pieology instead. At PinSarElla, it's more about the simplicity of the flavors and I can verify that it tastes great.
Tip - If Taco Bell's "Mexican Pizza" is your favorite pizza then PinSarElla is not the place for you.
Chef/Owner Michele puts his heart into PinSarElla and you can tell! PinSarElla combines pinsa (the ancient roman pizza) and fresh mozzarella cheese. The result, delicious! Both the pinsa and mozzarella are made in house fresh. This is definitely Little Italy quality, while being in Escondido?? I tried the pesto in a classic size with mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, pesto, basil, and parmesan!
Definitely call and order ahead of time!
The Healthier version of the Authentic Roman Pizza - I am so glad to have tried this place and experience the process of making the Pinsa! Their crust is perfectly crunchy outside and soft inside and the dough takes 72 hours to be prepared!
It's lighter and won't make you feel bloated after! I tried their pesto, Burrata and eggplant and Pepperoni and even brought some home for DIY! Loved it!
It's a take out only spot so be prepared for that! Can't wait to be back!
Wow, I can't recommend PinSarElla highly enough. No seating when I was there (indoors or out) so be prepared to take it to-go. The man who made our pinsa had an Italian accent so you know he's the real deal.
I tried the pesto and bufalina and they were both fantastic. Good value for the size and quality.
The crust is beautifully light, chewy, and crispy. The toppings were perfect. The red sauce?! Super simple to let the rich tomato flavor shine.
Will have to try other pinsa here!
I absolutely love this place! If you love good bread and good Pizza, this place is worth the drive to Escondido. I grew up spending all of my summers in Italy so my standards for good bread and Pizza are pretty high and Pinsarella definitely meets those high standards. They don't currently have anywhere to sit so my friends and I grabbed Pinsa and headed up to Double Peak to enjoy Pinsa and the sunset. You can also order the Pinsa on Door Dash and enjoy it from the comfort of your home.
They sell Pinsa crust at their store so I've also bought the crusts in a large quantity and had a Pinsa making party at my house with friends. It was so cheap and so good highly recommend!
